  1. I for one support the idea of adding Jihad to the server, if it is done right. The GMOD TTT server I grew up with and came to love included this feature but it came with a few stipulations that aimed to balance its usage. You had to wait 30 seconds for the Jihad to arm, there was an audible beep when the Jihad had armed, and you were able to kill the jihadist before the Jihad went off. This created an exciting but balanced item that would create panic if you were in a group and heard the beep or pure excitement if you were able to kill the person attempting the Jihad. The delay in arming also meant you couldn't just walk up to a group of players, buy it, and get a handful of easy kills. To me a "vanilla" TTT server includes the Jihad as it is what I grew up with. Same as how the current vision of our "vanilla" server includes changes like the one-hit knife and weapon balancing changes, both differing from default TTT settings thus moving away from an objectively vanilla experience. However, many of the benefits that come with a Jihad are present in the already existing C4 with much fewer risks to the Traitor. You could also argue that this discourages grouping up for many of the random moments that can pop up in a round. Though I feel the stipulations presented above help to make this a non issue. Overall, I would like to see the Jihad come to the server as I occasionally find myself coming across a situation and thinking that a jihad could create a fun moment and it is a unique enough alternative to C4 to be utilized often. It was also present in enough TTT servers back in the day that many might consider it close to a vanilla experience by many (which might be why the topic comes up so much). I'll still play the server either way.
  2. Could have used your help on this one @BoM
  3. Big fan of Critical role season 1, season 2 was a bit harder to get behind and I havent really listened to season 3. I've been listening to Morbid during long road trips which is a True Crime/Ghosts and shit podcast that's pretty enjoyable

  5. @antiwar_soldier with their 2000 Twitter followers really cracked this whole situation open and got down to the cold hard truth. Thanks @antiwar_soldier

  7. If you are referring to the Keystone XL pipeline then nothing was shutdown. The proposal which was blocked by Biden was a shortcut to an already fully developed pipeline, which is still operational. This shortcut brought in a single oil producer, slated to add 100,000 barrels a day to the pipeline, which is 1.3% of our 2020 imports, and additionally cut through the national landmark of Sandhills. The Keystone XL pipeline was reportedly going to be able to add the moving of 590,000 barrels a day which would be 7.5% of our imported barrels. There was also the Colonial Pipeline which was shut down May 6th, 2021 because of a cyberattack and restarted operations <7 days later but this had nothing to do with the President.
  8. Interesting point. According to eia.gov we reached a negative net import of petroleum and related products in 2020 by about ~650,000 barrels per day with our consumption of these products at ~18.12 million barrels per day and production at ~18.4 million per day. This only happened in 2020 and there aren't any numbers present on 2021. It should also be noted that this decrease in net imports began in 2005 with a ramp up of US production occurring after 2008. Here is the graph I referenced: With a more interactive graph on the website and some other charts about other stuff related to the petroleum sector. It should be noted that this doesn't account for all energy in the US so maybe we were offsetting the import of crude oil with the export of coal or something. I didnt dig enough to find that information. The original point was about oil though so good enough for me.
  9. Could you elaborate on this as I'm having trouble understanding why you picked this time frame specifically. The US didnt leave afghanistan until 2021. [whitehouse.gov] [nytimes.com] They didnt leave Irag until 2021. [reuters.com] Troops are still in Yemen. [newamerica.org] Troops are still in Somalia. [africom.mil] Troops are still in Syria. [politico.com] The US seems to have still been at war during this time period. I might be missing something unless you are saying these wars simply weren't about oil between 2016-2020. But otherwise, it doesn't seem like any ending or starting to any US war lines up with these years.
  10. I'm genuinely curious where the idea comes from that shutting down a server does anything . From my understanding, Rust is a gamemode that requires weekly maintenance in the form of resets and when no one was interested in taking that regular maintenance on the server was shut down. TF2 on the other hand could sit there, unmanaged, and still be a functioning server that events can be hosted on, or that people can join. It doesn't cost us more or less money whether the server is on or off. It isn't preventing us from making new servers if we wanted. There is no harm in leaving a server that doesn't consistently need to be managed open. You can tell me to go fuck myself all you want but it is an inherently different situation. You'd have to be ignoring quite a lot to say the community is dead. Sure, our source servers aren't at the pinnacle of use that we've seen in the past but that tends to happen with games that are more than a decade old that haven't adapted for the changing state of gaming. But those servers are still there for the people who enjoy them. Take a look at our discord. There are constantly people hanging out together and playing whatever games they want to play in our community discord, being a community. So yes, I will continue playing Lost Ark. Maybe ill even meet some new people there and bring them into our discord to meet more people and play more games. And I encourage everyone else to do the same. You 4 man queue into a mm match and meet a fun 5th player, invite them into the discord to play more. So instead of spending a quarter of your rant whining about how you got baited on retakes once, go out and be inclusive, meet new people, talk to new people who join the discord and want to play games, bring new people into the community. Experience new games and make new friends instead of worrying about servers that aren't going to be shutting down anytime soon.
  11. Hello! I just wanted to take some time to talk about this very great game called wordle. It's this daily game where you have to guess 5 letter words and it tells you what letters are correct and what not. Its really fun and you can sort of share how you did with other people without giving away the word. We have this whole channel in the main discord where you can do just that and we talk about the words. Definitely go check that out. Here's how I did today: oh also There is a new IAM in town. This IA has been around for quite some time and really knows what he's doing. He was a core component in getting the new infraction system pushed out and I have a feeling he is going to settle into the role well. I never got the opportunity to promote an IA so I am more than happy to be the one to promote Infinityward to IAM. His responsibilities remain pretty much the same but with the added bonus of managing the team and overseeing everything that passes through the team. Please welcome him to his new position by posting your wordle scores below!
