  1. First post in like a year - wew I kind of read the opinions in this thread, but the following is really just based on my own opinion. I'm not addressing or referring to anybody specifically in this thread - I just wanted to put my two cents in for the hell of it. I'm in favor for that change to streamline the ranks into one "Retired" rank, but I never really thought much about my retirement rank. I stepped down intending to separate from the community. I didn't have the time to be involved anymore, and I didn't think it'd be fair to hold any power in the community if I couldn't dedicate time. The fact that I have a recognition rank itself is nice and it's a neat little reminder that "I did something!!" in the community. In regards to the current structure, despite my previous statement above, I like the "new" division between HG, Veterans, and LG. I find the current recognition ranks a little more distinct. It gives me a general idea of what my contribution meant to the board making the decision. That may or may not be something others like, but I feel like it's a clear statement that I contributed xyz to the community and it was recognized at this level for it. Originally, when I stepped down, I was given HG. I heard about the rank restructuring for "retired" staff, and I came back to find myself at Veterans. Being completely honest, I was happy to see that. I definitely didn't contribute as much as a lot of the old board, and old AOs but I put a lot of effort in establishing a foundation for what I was tasked to do. I thought about SG during my time as AT a lot and tried really hard to improve the QoL for our competitive scene. I see traces of my old template for the current scrim event which is really nice. The fact that I left something behind is something I am proud of, since I really did enjoy and love my time here at SG. Being given the bump from HG to Veterans gave me the feeling that the board saw something similar. I left behind a little more than others. Most of the complaints seem to be from LGs being pushed down to Veterans. At the end of the day, I have no right to really give an opinion on this. I can absolutely see how you would take it as a demotion, since the rank change comes with a clear change in recognition and ultimately powers, but I don't know what it feels like since I did not get affected in the same matter. Nevertheless, I don't see recognition ranks as something that should be considered "promotions/demotions." The restructuring just gave me more of an idea of how the board viewed what I contributed to the community. Whether that's a step forward or back, that is what I view these ranks as. I always viewed those who stepped down as those who just don't have time anymore to contribute. It made no sense to me if you were stepping down to get away, just to return after a short period of time (I know Caution put a public statement about this a long time ago too). There were some legends that still played around the servers a lot and enforced the rules when I first started playing here years ago. They were really cool guys, but I didn't really see why they would stay legends instead of returning to being a SA. They were active and part of the staff even though their rank suggested being "retired." If it was to cherry pick when to enforce the rules, well that doesn't seem to be what it was intended for at all so that doesn't make sense either to me. It was confusing at first because I didn't see their name often around the forums and other parts of the community, but they eventually tagged up suggesting they were admin. On the servers, I could never really tell the difference between a HG and a Reg. This might just be because I didn't really care that much about it. Even legends, I only knew they were legends when they spoke in admin chat or tagged up with an unfamiliar name. Some sort of addition to distinguishing the retired staff on the servers would be nice I suppose. I briefly joined the community meeting yesterday and I think this was talked about but I didn't catch any of it so I'm not sure. Ultimately, whatever decision gets made, I'm fine with it. I like the way it's structured now, but if it makes others happy, I am completely fine with it being one rank as well. I don't log in enough for it to have any impact on me, but I'll always appreciate the fact that I actually have something still in this community that I put so much time into. Honestly, if they decide to take that away from me, that's fine too. I left, but I'll always fondly reminisce about a certain timeline here at SG that I was active in.
  2. I came back to vote for the man himself @eXtr3m3. My boy better win
  3. hi im exk i used to sweat a lot and kill people and make them angry a lot but i can't anymore heres a goodbye thread bye. A lot of you guys probably don't even know who I am anymore, but to all the dudes I really cared bout, this is more or less for you. I've been here for about three years now? 2016? and man has it been a ride. I went from the dude who no lifed TTT to actually managing a server here. I met countless people here, and met up with a bunch of you cuties in real life. I really do feel super lucky to have gotten involved here. I've made a ton of good memories, had a lot of laughs, and spent countless hours mindlessly relaxing and escaping from everything that life forces on you. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time anymore to be around and do what the servers deserve. I can't spend the hours on the server, or even put the time in anymore to do the things the servers need to make it better. This is more or less the reason I need to step down. I really wanted to put more time into scrim and push it towards the next level. I had a lot of plans to make it more involved with the community to nurture a "competitive scene" while having everyone enjoy and be welcomed to it. I've left all my thoughts and ideas for the next person who takes over the reigns so I have high hopes that some of it will still come true! I've rambled enough in that thread so I'll leave it shorter here. I really love this community and everything that's come with it. A lot of my old friends aren't active anymore, but every once and a while I meet some of you new peeps and it's pretty fun. This place has given me a lot and I'm glad I was able to give something back to it. I loved managing scrim, and it's a bit bittersweet that I won't be able to keep working on it moving forward but I just got to let it go. I'm sure I'll forget a lot of others but, peace to: @WavY @Alex @papa @Dominic @eXtr3m3 @Reid99 @Senpai @roux @eden @Noob^ @Malibu @Fuze @the rest of those gorillas @BndC @Paradox @DancingMoonLight @H4XOR @Maan @Joolis @tides @Pred @Rhyzhe @Korean Ninja @Black Rain @Greggy G [ny gang gang] @Mad Dogg @Gator @Wawa @All the other old ATs, CAs, Admins etc that I forgot even though I used to fucking talk to them all the time.
  4. I miss you buddy Don't worry, I won't be there
  5. There were plans for this. Those plans were scrapped. I noticed lately that there has been an uptick in players being around on the server. Even if the ones loyal to waiting out a match remains low in numbers (2-4 sitting in spec) I've seen actually quite a few times 15+ players on the 15 capped server. Honestly, I can't even be bothered to join half the time because I see there's tons of specs and the servers already in a live match. I'm sure if two servers did exist, there would be times where both servers get populated as of right now. I had a lot of considerations prior to being promoted in regards to what to do with scrim and how we could manage two servers separately while retaining population for both, but most of those plans aren't reasonable anymore. With school rolling around the corner, and the other servers we're considering in progress, I don't think we are willing to add a second scrim server as of right now. We've been discussing other options to mitigate the issue of having specs sit around for too long, but unfortunately as of right now it's just in the planning phase. I'll try to keep an eye out on how scrims been population wise and how often people are stuck in spec to see if I need to find any workarounds I can do for it as of now. Scrim was never really meant to be populated like our other casual servers, since it's not one of those self-sustaining, RP-esque servers, but if we get enough of a competitive player base that wants to scrim, I might be able to make an argument to have two. As of right now, I can only apologize if you aren't able to get into a match with the current rules. I might just look back at the current rules with who stays on post match and revise them. Some things for me to consider I suppose. @Alex don't speak of that ever again please
  6. No plans to put it back as of now, sorry!
  7. wtf you're back? welcome back ig
  8. @eden Grats everyone
  9. @tides @Dominic @papa @Manny Super team right here Probably wouldn't work well for a competitive match unless there's some balancing involved... Would be neat to do some kind of staff team events though.
  10. @Ned I hope KD comes back so raptors win is even more legit ;)
  11. SG Open Is Live Public Announcement SG Open will officially be starting! As of right now, we will only be using our designated scrim server for matches at the scheduled times. As a result, the server will be reserved 15 minutes before the match goes live. The server will be restarted, and after that the only people that should be on the server will be the players, and the event representative. We're looking into setting up some kind of streams for each match so you guys can watch, but we ask that you guys do not connect to the server to spectate the match. Ideally, we want to reduce all forms of "strain" on the server to make it as smooth as possible. I'd like to also state right now that we're looking for a clean, enjoyable season. As already stated in the SG rules, ghosting is a bannable offense, and it will be taken even more seriously during this event. If we do manage to stream matches, anybody found ghosting will be immediately banned from SG. This means both players and people from the outside doing it will be banned. While it may not be a perm, we hope that nobody tries to cheat in any way. Nevertheless, I hope we can bring popularity to these matches and have you guys watch and keep up with what's happening. More involvement brings in publicity and it makes the entire event much more enjoyable. You may not have signed up as a player, but you can participate by watching matches, keeping up with standings, and talking about them. Stay tuned for if/when we announce how streaming will work. Welcome to All the Signed Up Teams The first week of SG open will officially start Sunday, June 2nd. A section called "SG Open" will be released publicly soon which will contain all the information about SG open, all the updates, along with all the match threads. As soon as it's open, first round matchups will be available. When it's public, I will tag captains to post schedules and plan out the match. Examples are available within the thread itself along with a skeleton explanation in the section. >>New Subforum
  12. Being on a balcony of a cruise right as the suns disappearing from the horizon while cuddling with my S/O. I hate that girl now, but the memories of that day will never turn sour. Most serene and beautiful moment in my life yet.
