  1. Thanks. I'll hop on this week sometime.
  2. I don't know if it has been fixed, but I tried joining bhop like a week ago and nothing worked. Speed gain was messed up, it wouldn't let me finish a time. It looked like BoTo was trying to fix it, but just wanted to ask if the server is fully functional at this point
  3. VULTURES 1...

?? I didn't write an essay. I wrote like a paragraph and reviewed each song, similar to the format of the original post. Does not bump. I have an opinion and strongly stand against anti-semitism and demeaning shit against women. Ye is far from the right track, he's on the reich track. Bozo.
  4. VULTURES 1...

This album is terrible. It's just not a good album. This is my least favorite Kanye album and I think this is his worst album. All this album has shown me is that he has embraced his mental spiral and is going to ride it until (i think) he ultimately secludes himself from the public overall or kills himself. Playing into the fact you've said some heinous antisemetic things, not apologizing for it, but instead rebuking "how can i be antisemetic if I had sex with a jewish woman or how can i be antisemetic if i hired some jewish people"... it's just ignorance and stupidity. Stars - Instrumental is nice. "Keep a few jews on the staff now" invalidates any other lyrical content on the song. If any other artist would say this shit they would get immediately crucified. But because it's Ye, people just go "oh it's just ye being crazy" and write off antisemitism and the blatant pathetic attempt at "look! i've changed!". Keys to my life - Emojinal is a funny line, the papa john's one was stupid but funny. Honestly an alright song, the beat switch was sudden but I didn't hate it. Paid- I hate the repetitive uncreative hooks in songs and always have. Kanye's opening to the verse is horrendous. Most of his verse is horrendous. The chorus sounds good in comparison to the frist verse. Ty's verse isn't terrible. Cant get over the shit ye verse. Talking- I have an issue with using your own daughter on your record. That's my personal issue, but either way her verse was annoying. Ty's verse was good, especially when you actually listen to the lyrics. I can always respect someone wanting to be a good father and hearing about his struggles is a good inclusion. Back to me- The beat is fine. Vocal mixing is terrible. Ye's verse is terrible and doesn't flow. Freddie Gibbs did pretty well. Hate the sample, and I feel like the message is basically saying Kim an his current wife and one in the same and that's really demeaning and not great considering it's not the worst thing he says about his current wife in this album and the fact that he harassed Kim for months. Hoodrat- Jesus fucking christ this beat is obnoxious. The mixing on the track almost washes out the vocals. This is just a terrible song. Genuinely wanted to turn it off midway through. Do it- I think this is one of the best songs on the album (that's not saying a lot). It's not a fantastic song, it's alright. This is probably the most structurally sound song on the album. YG was fine. Rip Nipsey. Paperwork- The Brazilian Phonk is fun. The song feels unorganized. But it's ok at best. Burn - Feels like a demo. Unremarkable track. Not terrible, but my main point of criticism ties in to what I said at the top." I burned eight billion to takе off my chains Burn, baby, burn" feeds into him being incredibly unapolagetic about what he did. Also when what you did includes saying Hitler was alright and having a line say "Burn, baby, burn"... poor word choice. Fuk Sumn- I hate this song. I hate carti's thing he does with his voice now, I think it sounds so terrible. I hate the transition at some point where he does some alvin and the chipmnuks shit. Vocal mixing is bleh. Carnival- WHY IS RICH THE KID ON A TRACK IN 2024?? No way you said Ozzy Ozbourne is boring @lynxielmfao. An artist didn't want another artist they don't like sampling their music, and Ye did some loophole to get around it. That's scummy. Sample something else. The guitar adds very little to the song IMO. Kanye's verse was completely unhinged and out of pocket. It's fucking horrific. Comparing yourself to two convicted criminals isn't a good look. Shaming the MeToo movement.... Complaining about them blackballing Chris Brown, a well known abuser... this entire verse is just yikes man. If you defend this verse you're either insane or don't have basic reading comprehension. Beg Forgiveness- Not bad, but a boring song. Good Dont die- Another snoozer of a track, not bad. Problematic - Herad "I'm not racist, it's a preference And my bitch lookin' like a reference", turned off song. I don't feel like I should need to explain why both of these lines are fucking horrible. If you can't understand why, go back to school. I didn't finish the album after listening to problematic. Watching the downward spiral of Ye is honestly saddening to watch a fantastic artist have such a terrible fall from grace. After this, I don't think I'll even bother listening to vols 2 and 3.
  5. man i tried to get this shit back on track and yall started pirate posting, shitposting, and shit talking again aite i give up fuck it 2 dudes kissing embracing monke once again
  6. Just wanted to circle back around briefly. Has there been any sort of follow up to this or real discussion about this? Obviously I'm biased and think this idea is good and a step in the right direction for a community change. I know it got lost in the thread, but eh... Just wanted to see if this is in any sort of consideration. 1) Eh, I don't see a point. It feels like both sides are calming down and saying their peace and moving on. Maybe? I dunno. 2) No one will show. Even if they have the time to show up, they won't because the people being vocal feel as if their words won't be heard or utilized, so the people that do show will likely be all the ones from one side of the argument You're not wrong about it getting nowhere though. Regardless of what side I'm on, this just feels like a microcasm of the US Congress at this point. It's "my way of thinking is better than yours" back and forth and there is no middle ground because neither side will deviate from their way for xyz reason for better or for worse. The arguing must be tiring atp and has detracted from the spread of ideas, which was at least the hope of this thread.
  7. As John's official representative,
  8. Granted I wasn't involved super heavy in community discussion while Revenga was President, I was just a half-inactive TA, but even when I read through the channels, it really didn't feel like much even happened or was ever actually executed. So it seems like the activity fell under the category of "cool, yeah! ideas!" but nothing was ever done. I would say now is the pretty much last chance you have to walk away. You wouldn't be leaving those in power directionless, you would be giving them an opportunity to let them execute direction. @Zero Twoand @Karmaaren't people I've spoken a ton to, but when I have they actually seemed willing to get invovled and drive ideas forward and be active and mingle with the community base they lead. You would open the door to people those two mingle with to get them in a position to execute change and maybe use the last chance to bring some semblance of life in this community. It is pretty easy to propose what change should happen (imo), and here's the last idea I'll throw at this place in this thread: Further simplify the staff structure. No president, no supreme leader, just make kind of like an "executive council type shit". They would functionally be a board and work together, but they would properly have their tasks delegated to them to provide DIRECTION. Overall, just simplify and reduce the staff we have to people that want to be here so we don't have an inflated amount of staff that straight up don't look the community. How, you may ask is this achievable? Something like this: 7 "board members", two for each type of position, and one special position 2 Technical leads, in charge of all technical aspects (discord upkeep, server technical issues, etc) - Nishok and Boto. Current tech team members would just remain as "Technical Staff" 2 Server Leads, in charge of managing what few servers we have, making sure changes get pushed, events happen, etc. - ZeroTwo and Karma. Current AOs would be there to assist in running specific servers. 2 Community Leads, in charge of making community events and finding ways to push community interaction and fostering a welcoming and fun environment - Find two people for this (will explain below) 1 Financial Manager, a hands off person who just makes sure the money is straight and that's their only job. - Caution, so yall didn't have to play switching accounts and whatever. He could stick around just making sure the money is right. All current Server administrators could be asked if they want to retain their staff role. If so, allow them to be a discord moderator and admin for the few servers we still have Literally make a post on Discord announcements and be like "yo, we're looking for community leads to lead the community and blah blah blah (explained above)", make a google form and make some sort of vetting/interview process to find the best candidate. Would it be cool if it were someone already in the community? Yes. But, sometimes great ideas and innovation can come from an outside source. You're at a point where you need to make outreach and find ideas and inspiration from a stranger potentially. There's your (a proposed) solution. A change, activity, an attempt at pushing forward. I know for the last point, it may be hard to trust someone less experience and thrusting them in a position of power, but it's worth a shot when (based on this thread), the community has lost its trust and faith in you, @Dominic Also @Spiritwindcame through with an absolute bombshell while I was writing this, +1 to his post.
  9. Strictly regarding the forums: It's time to let it go. I say either move the forums to a read-only archive or just completely shut it down. The threads feature of Discord more or less has become the new "forums" per-se. Yes, online forums still exist but their activity is slim pickings compared to even 5 years ago. Move to a full-Discord model. For example, the Lethal Company Modding Discord server has chat sections that are exclusively threads that essentially function like a forum, and I think that's the best model to have moving forward. It's modern, simple, and Discord is free/much more affordable for premium features annually compared to a website hosting service. Putting resources into making Discord bots to add features to the servers/making the server grow is a much more valuable time and resource dump than updating an online forum that barely gets clicks and won't contribute to real community growth (no shade to the work of the TAs over the years that have made this website their labor of love). Regarding the stuff @electricboogaloosaid: Even if it is someone hiding behind a VPN, there are definitely good and valid criticisms here. The stagnation at the very top has heavily contributed to the downfall of this community. Caution has done an enormous amount of work during his tenure, but everyone has their time to let it go. I believe that time has very much passed long ago. Who should take over? I don't really know, honestly as long as it's someone active with an IQ above 100, I think they'd set the community in the right direction simply by being a fresh face in charge who engages with the community. Looking back on things, the internal shit-slinging has existed for so long within the staff ranks, and it ultimately comes down to the group that talks shit about other people and groups that are simply in higher positions end up on top. Every group of friends within staff have gone off into their own individual cliques and talked shit about other people and it just fosters resentment within the staff ranks and causes rank instability and slows growth. I think at one point when CA was still a rank and I was in the higher-up staff, I watched/was part of a complete turn-over of the CA rank within 6-7 weeks. Hell, even now I can remember higher-up staff talking shit (whether in a meeting, over discord, pms, etc.) about 4 current AO+... and it wouldn't entirely shock me if shit is still talked in private behind each others backs. Note: I am not innocent of this, like I said, we ALL did it. The higher I got in the ranks, the more shit that was talked. In the time, I didn't care and contributed to it, but looking back it's a really terrible look for a community to talk shit on fellow staff members behind their backs and sow resentment, often times with no real basis beyond just "fuck this dude because he's not in our little group". Regarding the higher-of-higher ups: I'll keep this one short and simple. Caution has sent two messages in the SG discord in the last 3 months. An owner who interacts with the community they own that little should not be in charge. Plain and simple. Dominic, you're a busy college student with bigger shit to focus on than a dying community that has no real impact on your life. Get your degree and make professional moves for yourself. Point being, the two with the most power in the community should not be in charge. These two will not put the community in the right direction, as they simply do not dedicate/have the time to dedicate to this community to foster growth or a healthy and welcoming environment. No shade, just stating how I see it. There's nothing wrong with not having the time, you're both busy, but understand nothing will change or improve until you're both no longer the top guys. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
  10. Just throwing a couple of ones I thought of for rebranding (yes I looked to rank names as inspiration): 1) Veteran Gamers- The community has a large population of active, reserve, and former military personnel and you guys could shift your target audience to fostering a place for military vets, family of military vets, and anyone really can come together and enjoy games and discuss them. Color scheme could be purple and gold? 2) Legend Gamers - Idk this one just sounds cool? Could use gold and black/dark grey color scheme. 3) Tech gamers- could open the door into hosting more tech-related discussions about computer parts, companies, etc. I think it is about time for a re-brand that breaks the brand restraint of "steam gamers" and allows for more brand-sensible expansion outside of just steam games, and something that honestly just sounds more modern? Maybe it's just how my brain works but Steam-gamers sounds very fitting for the era it was named, but not for the modern era of gaming.
  11. ^^ Our community targets a specific age demographic. While there will always be a trickle of younger people coming in, the vast majority of our community base has remained the same since the time I came here. When I came here, I was 14, I am now 22. Most of the community base that made the community thrive in the early-mid 2010s are now working-class adults with busy lives, and in some cases spouses and children. People will always pop back in from time to time just to see how good ol SG is doing, but unless there is a massive culture change or everyone in the 20-35 age bracket magically comes back online, this sort of thing will be a perpetual cycle of someone from a while ago comes back, becomes active, does a little work in staff, steps back down. Not knocking on the process, but at least from my eyes, it feels like there really hasn't been a new wave of players that stuck around since probably the start of covid.
  12. Miss the nights where everyone would be doing stupid shit in VC... and dying repeatedly in tarkov. Congrats on the promo in your working world. Big things coming for ya bud. If you ever wanna shoot the shit or run up risk ( @Greggy G) hmu. o7
  13. Reached out to Lampshade, he said he didn't have plans to continue with the league. I'm already running 2 IRL leagues, so I won't pick this up. If someone else wants to pick it up, i'd be happy to join though. If not, the last few years have been a pleasure, boys.
