  1. Easy way to find the servers... In BC2, start the server browser, clear any filters, and run the search. Once it is done, sort it alphabetically by server name (click on the block above the name to sort this way) and it should be there if the servers are up. However, the last few times I have done this, the servers have been offline. EM
  2. Sadly, ATI has 4000-series GPU's in an AGP form-factor. No, I have no idea why, but they are still being made and presumably still being sold. I would bet that they are for the peeps that still have PCs with AGP graphics that have not / will not upgrade until their PCs are dead beyond recovery. EM
  3. This is something any and every online gamer should at least check. One thing that I always have to adjust is my MTU size. Whats that? MTU stands for maximum transmission unit. It's geek speak for the largest size a data packet can be without fragmenting. So what is the problem here? Well, your PC can create a packet that is larger than the packet size supported by your ISP. So when your ISP gets the big packet, it fragments it and sends it as two pieces. This results in a slower transmission of data and strange things happening in online games. How do I test this? Go to this web page and jump right to step 2. If the packets fragment, follow the rest of the suggestion. If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, the tool they use will not work, so you have to set your packet size manually. The command to do this is: netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=xxxx store=persistent You replace xxxx with your maximum packet size from the ping test and then adding + 28. And if you network is named something other than "Local Area Connection" then that needs to be changed as well. Once it is set, you have to reboot before it takes effect. EM
  4. Nix nay on the form. I am more of a pay-to-play kinda cat and I think I will just turbo on with a donation. The name thing... I am probably going to have a couple of them in BFBC2. No point in not earning unlocks plus it will be interesting to see if my k/d ratio improves. EM
  5. Thank you for the welcome. Yeah, I was on the BFBC2 rush server a night or two ago and decided to see what you guys were about. Me: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198012245691 Returned SteamID: STEAM_0:1:25989981 Thanks!
  6. Ok, I scanned the FAQ before asking, honest, and here is what I found... How do I find out what my/a player’s SteamID is? You need to connect to a server and type ‘status’ in console. This will give you a list of all the players currently connected and what their SteamID is. Console? That sounds game specific. I am here due to BFBC2 and don't own any Valve online titles - yet. Anyhow, I found the following SteamID converter. Could someone confirm that it is generating the correct info please? I've already plugged it into my profile, but I have no way to confirm that it is converting correctly. Thanks! EM
