A futile attempt to please citizens and voters. Bush is still trying to save face and not go down as one of the unpopular presidents of all time. Like the artical says, we wouldn't see a difference in price for years and by that time the way things are going...we'd be paying 8-10 bucks a gallon.

Seriously, I'd hold off. Tonight my station is running a story on how the cost in gas savings aren't all that much when you factor in other things most people don't know about when it comes to hybrids. Factors like your car insurance will most likely go up a bunch, the battery that makes it a hybrid, if that breaks its 1000's of dollars to fix, the starting cost averages 4000 bucks more than the gas model. Things that just don't add up. When we run the story I'll post it up here for everyone to read and see.

In A Poll Where People Were Asked To Name The Greatest Presidents Ever, President Bush Has Consistently Been Ranked Anywhere From 10-6 Each Year, Putting Himself With The Likes Of Lincoln, Washington, Kennedy And Roosevelt.

So He Can't Be That Unpopular.

You are right, after 9-11 he had the highest approval rating of all time, but since, he's also set the record for lowest.

http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm

For currently his approval rating is 28%.

No one ever says anything about Congress' approval rating though... It's waaay lower than Bush's... hmm... It cracks me up that people can never say anything good about the president, even if they know he does something worthwhile. "Well... even though I bitch and moan about gas prices every day to my coworkers, I still don't think Bush did a good job lifting the ban... I mean I know we have to start SOMEWHERE but Bush eats babies for breakfast LOLOL"

Congress needs to get their thumbs out of their asses and do their job now.

lol, your boy?

Polls are pretty much useless because not everyone is polled (or not everyone wants to do the poll) and mainly those with a strong opinion will partake in the poll if they are offered, so the poll may encompass only people who strongly favor him or those who don't. The people with the "meh, he isn't good but who cares," or vice versa don't make up the majority of the poll and these are the majority of people.

Bush will be remembered as a great president once all the trendy John Stewart and Co.'s Bush bashing fog dissipates and people realize that we actually have had it good despite all the pussy ass bitching.

To ignore how horribly the new congress of change is doing is simply asinine and another attempt to deflect their failures towards the White House. Especially after the DEMOCRAT senate AND congress just voted in favor of the FISA bill despite wanting to IMPEACH the president over it in the past, you hypocritical assholes. INCLUDING Obama, yeah real change there, empty political suit hack.

I voted for bush in 04 and I'm voting for McCain because I love this country too much to see its security and overall well being pissed away for some sniveling snob brat affirmative action case with less than a term of experience elected to satiate the ignorant leech masses that would rather punish hard work and reward lethargy.

If Obama is elected, don't bitch about the increase in taxes and everything else that comes with him.

Fuck liberalism and the self-defeatism that comes with it. The world is a fucked up place, get over your deluded sense of the possibility for a utopia under the guise of "change" and realize it takes more than a fake smile and hand shake to fix shit.

That's because the average American doesn't know the name of more then 5 presidents.
The sad, but honest truth.
So the reason he is up there might be because when asked the question, most people draw a blank and say the only name they remember... Our current Presi-dont that Ameri-cant.

I notice how you say "fuck liberalism", yet I do believe you love it. Do you enjoy your freedom of speech and the freedom to own a firearm (and do a lot for that matter)? You are basically saying that you don't want individual freedom with that statement.

Curious how the term not only applies to Democrats but Conservatives as well...wait, not really. If you really look at the world and just don't throw everything into two buckets, it really makes sense.

Don't confuse LIBERTY with liberalism.

Liberalism - a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties. (dictionary.com)

The definition is reworded in different dictionaries and glossaries, but the general gist is the same. Liberalism's foundation is liberty.

At times Republicans are more liberal than democrats, and democrats are more conservative than republicans. Simply throwing them into categories to prevent any in depth understanding is stupidity.

you clearly said "fuck liberalism"...not "fuck liberals" (even though as I have stated, Republicans can be and have been liberal, so you are saying "fuck the democrats and republicans" at the same time).

However, if you are ignorant of the facts, it is understandable to believe that democrats are the sole liberals in the universe bent on a socialist take over. :001_rolleyes:

Jesus Fucking christ, you still don't get it. My use of word Liberalism refers the the ideals of the Liberal/Democrat party, no the literal definition of the word.

I cannot elaborate on this any further, if you don't get it, you don't get it, which judging by your history on the political forum isn't surprising.

Doubtless you will continue to argue semantics in an effort to validate your false belief that you are some how presenting a worthwhile point or argument.

In your case I guess ignorance is truly bliss... The ideals of the Democratic party are both liberal and conservative (same goes for the Republicans). They are not purely liberal, so labeling their beliefs as liberalism is incorrect.

Whatever the case, it is your definition vs. the real definition, and if it is your definition that you want to go by, then by all means, destroy those socialist loving pigs! :P

Yea your right they might be motivated to argue about the president but thats only because no one ever happens to remeber that theres truely only a few things the Pres can do. Its been awhile since i had to remeber this stuff from school but one is the military which he only has control of for what 90 days or so befor congress can override him and stop whatever his doing with our military.

I think another is to pass a bill that he wants without it having to go through congress, but as you can see everything still revolves back to congress the pres makes a bill it goes to congress they argue and finally you have your decision. But if the bill doesnt pass its not congress's fault that it didnt its the pres's fault for not keeping his word to his political table so to speak.

Like Red said he will be remebered one way or another for being good every pres has been. Hell look at clinton everyone dogged him for getting some head he leaves the office and all of a sudden his liked but yet we hated him for his lack of responsibilty to his marriage.

Only a few pres's through out our history have ever been known for being good Lincoln JFK Washington Garfield Hayes Madison a few more but my mind is starting to hurt......but alot of other pres's have been taunted shit on in someway but in the end they were better or good enough. Its just bad that they get all that bad rap when congress really does have all the power.

I'm glad that at least you were able to grasp the difficult concept that I was trying to convey, if you could pass that note along to Italian Jew that would be great.

As for taxes, I'm terrified of what Obama would do, right now we have some of the lowest taxes, yes it's hard to believe, but I can't see it being lower than it is now.

Is there any statistical data on the conversion rate of people who were liberal before having a full time job vs. after they have to start paying taxes?

Venomous, I think your Caps lock is on (unless you are capitalizing all of the first letters in all your words on purpose :O)

I know what the commonly misinterpreted, mainstream meaning of liberalism...needless to say it is incorrect.

For the statistics, people generally tend to be greedy. If they want more money for themselves, they may choose to be conservative, although it may bite them in the ass later when the government runs out of money and gets financially fucked. If they choose to be a democrat, they might be more inclined to actually want to help the government and other people. The problem with that is of course inefficient spending of the government. Both parties spend money, its just what they spend money on. I would like to know whether a surplus has been created through Republican means or Democratic means throughout the history of the US (but keep in mind of the switch in principles between Dems and Republicans in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

This country is going to hell in a hand-basket in a hurry -- I can only imagine how much worse it will become if Obama gets elected. He's a super socialist wolf in a pseudo socialist sheep's clothing, that man will continue to ruin everything the American way of life is based on -- hard work, good investments, and the occasional risk. People are being punished for success. It's absolutely ridiculous (and I know I'm preaching to most of the choir here)

I love my country but I fear my government...

That adage describes perfectly how I feel about this country at the moment... There are dark times ahead of us and if we don't start acting to STOP them now (one major thing is totally revamping, renovating and rebuilding the entitlement programs that are handed out), then we're going to have many harsh years ahead of us.
